MINI is proud to be an official partner of Team GB and ParalympicsGB on their journey to London 2012. MINI is now getting right behind British athletes, via our Performance Team. MINI dealers like us will be pairing up with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.
We are really chuffed to announce that we are now supporting local athlete, Jeanette Kwakye, as she attempts to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Jeanette Kwakye trains locally at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre in North London. Jeanette has been running since the age of 14 for local club Woodford Green with Essex Ladies, and by the age of 25 had already broken the British indoor record which had stood since 1986, at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. She then went on to become the first British woman to make a 100m final since Heather Oakes in 1984
“I’m really grateful to Sytner Chigwell and MINI for their support,” said Jeanette. “It’s tough trying to qualify for an Olympic place and it’s a big help knowing that they are behind me, helping to raise funds and awareness. It’s also fantastic having a brand new car from now until the end of the 2012 Games. There’s a lot of traveling to heats, competitions and promotional events so it’s great being able to arrive there in style.”
Adrian Hill, Managing Director at Sytner Chigwell, said: “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get really involved with the 2012 Games. Our staff and customers are keen to support London 2012 so we’re really happy to be backing Jeanette – especially since she’s a very successful local girl and an existing customer of the dealership.”
